For 76 years, the Canadian Cancer Society has been with Canadians in the fight for life. We have been relentless in our commitment to prevent cancer, fund research and support those touched by cancer. We are working together with Canadians to change cancer forever so fewer Canadians are diagnosed with the disease and more survive.
When the Society first started funding research in the 1940s, only 25 per cent of people survived a cancer diagnosis. Today, more than 60 per cent of people diagnosed with cancer survive. It is only with the support of our donors and volunteers that we are able to make great strides in preventing cancer, saving lives and supporting people living with cancer.
No one likes the fact that cancer continues to take a toll. That’s why the Society fights for life by:
• funding research to better prevent cancer
• influencing public policy for quality cancer care everywhere in Canada
• focusing support programs on the greatest needs of patients and caregivers
• engaging more Canadians in the fight against cancer
Travel is reported to be one of the largest financial burdens for people living with cancer and their caregivers. The Canadian Cancer Society believes worrying about travel expenses during out-of-town treatments should be the last thing on a person’s mind when faced with cancer.
The Society’s newest corporate partner, Red Arrow Motorcoach, has offered to provide in-kind transportation services to cancer patients and their caregivers across Alberta. By utilizing Red Arrow Motorcoach’s transportation services, you are helping the Society create a world where no Canadian fears cancer.
